  16. This past Christmas I purchased Fourth Level Developments' Ami-FileSafe
  17. Professional Version from a local Scarborough (suburb of Toronto, Ontario,
  18. Canada) Amiga dealer, who has since gone under (Wonder Computers).

  20. A few months previous, I had also purchased from them IAM's (D.Haynie's) Disk
  21. Salve 3.
  22.  
  23. I still haven't installed the AFS to any of my Amigas, although I'd really
  24. like to.  The problem is that I am hearing a lot of negative comment on AFS on
  25. various Usenet Conferences, and it seems that Disk Slve 3 is not really
  26. equipped to deal with any potential problems.

  28. I'm always a sucker for trying out new operating system//file system variants
  29. and I was getting quite distressed with how slowly earlier versions of Thor
  30. were working my hard drive on my a4000/040.  I must confess to also wanting to
  31. "show up my 14 1/2 year old son who also has a 4000/040 with some quicker
  32. benchmarks.

  34. Anyone with first-hand, second-hand, fifth-hand, whatever experience and//or
  35. comments on the AFS; could you please tell me about your experiences?  I'm
  36. really eager to try out this technically good sounding file system, but over
  37. many years of Amiga ownership QuarterbackTools v1.5, QuarterbackTools Deluxe
  38. and not to forget, Ami-Back Tools have saved my life on my standard os1.3,
  39. then 2.0, then 2.1 and now 3.1 FFS systems many, many times.

  41. I admit it.  I'm chicken to try out something new on the best operating
  42. system, most intuitive platform on the market.  Am I being too cowardly; or am
  43. I reading between the lines in messages I've received?
